Step 1

Make hat one day in advance. Knead 1/4 teaspoon Gum-Tex into 1 oz. black fondant. Use 9 in. fondant roller with purple guide rings to roll out fondant 1/8 in. thick. Use medium round cut-out to cut one shape for hat base. Use fingers to curl up edges.

Use remaining black fondant to shape a tapered log, 1 3/4 in. tall x 1 1/8 in. wide at one end, tapering to 5/8 in. wide at other end. Use knife to cut at an angle down to 1 1/8 in. tall. Use damp brush to attach to hat base. Let set overnight.

Step 2

Make cake ball pops. Prepare medium cake balls and insert sticks following recipe.

Step 3

Dip cake ball pops. Melt white Candy Melts candy according to package directions. Dip pops in melted candy. Chill in stand until firm, 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 4

Decorate cake ball pops. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Tint black. Use tip 3 and black icing to pipe a large dot of icing on back of one large eyeball. Position on cake ball pop, and push so that icing oozes out of sides. Repeat for small candy eyeball. Use tip 3 and black icing to also pipe string mouth.

Attach hat. Use melted white candy in cut disposable decorating bag to position and attach hat to top of pop.

Use scissors to cut pipe cleaner to 5 in. long and wrap around lollipop stick.
